B.A.R. (Quincy) Smith, QC
Quincy has over thirty-five years of experience in the area of insolvency law, and advises clients in matters of local, national and international scope. He has been named in such directories as Who's Who Legal International, in L'expert and American Lawyer Media Magazine as one of the leading 500 lawyers in Canada. Selected in 2006 as a leading lawyer by Best Lawyers in Canada, Quincy spent six years as the Managing Partner of the Calgary office of a prestigious national law firm. Quincy is currently the Chair of Travel Alberta, a Board member of Calgary Airport Authority. He is a former Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta and Honourary Life Director of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
Al Bellstedt, QC
Al retired in February 2007 as the Executive Vice-President, Law and Corporate of TransCanada Corporation having held senior executive positions at TransCanada since 1999. He was previously a partner of a national law firm where he specialized in transactional work including securities law, mergers and acquisitions, banking and venture capital investments. Al is a Director of Canadian Western Bank, the Forzani Group Ltd., the Churchill Corporation and Capital Power Corporation as well as various private companies.
Francis Saville, QC
Francis Saville is the Chairman of the Board of Nexen Inc. and counsel with a leading national law firm, which he joined in 1965. Francis had an extensive practice in the areas of energy and environmental law, as well as municipal law and land-use planning. He specialized in representing energy corporations in regulatory applications.
Francis has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Alberta and he was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1984.
He holds the ICD.D designation (Institute of Corporate Directors at the Haskayne School of Business).
In 2008, Francis was elected Chair of the board of trustees of the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific.
David Percy, Q.C.
David Percy served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta from 2002 to June, 2009. He holds a B.A. from the University of Oxford, an LLM degree from the University of Virginia and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta. He teaches Contracts, Construction Law, Natural Resources Law, Oil and Gas Law and is co-editor of Boyle & Percy "Contracts, Cases and Commentaries, now in its seventh edition. He has written extensively in the area of construction law and has given over sixty seminars in this topic to industry groups. In 1995 he received the WPM Kennedy award for excellence in Canadian law teaching and in 1996 the Rutherford Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching at the University of Alberta. David is an avid rugby fan and long-time supporter of the University of Alberta Golden Bearristers Rugby Club.
